The Latest...

 THE LATEST 2/4/2013

If you are checking in, first and foremost, thank you.

It has been over a week since I put up a new post, but I have added to Words of Wisdom and I think, there are a couple of new pet peeves.

I found a couple of places where I want to relay holidays from.  As I mentioned in one of my initial posts, my ideal, will include a calendar.  The calendar will include holidays, the well known and the less than well known.  I will include the name of the site that I get them to so if you feel the need, you can go straight there.

The holidays that I missed since my last post:

I got these January holidays, from an article by Marlo Thomas, for Huffington Post.
 1/28 National Kazoo Day
1/30 National Inane Message Day
1/31 Backward Day

The following holidays, are courtesy of www. holidayinsights.com.  Lots of other things to looks at on this site, plus it has the history and origin of the holidays.  I am including a brief origin for National Freedom Day, but most, I will not go into.

2/1 National Freedom Day  - I believe this day should be well celebrated.  It was created by Major Richard Robert  Wright Sr., a former slave, who thought there should be a day when freedom for all Americans is celebrated.  President Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment on Feb. 1, 1965, so thus the date.  President Truman proclaimed Feb. 1st as National Freedom Day on June 30, 1948.

2/2 Groundhog Day and Candlemas

2/3 The Day the Music Died-  the day Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash in 1959.

2/4 Thank a Mailman Day              I guarantee, they don't hear it enough.
2/5 National Weatherman's Day     Let's give thanks for their effort and enthusiasm.

I will work up a List of Holidays, and hope to have it posted by week's end.

Once things are a bit more settled, I will include a What's coming... notation at the end of the post to let you know what you can hopefully look forward to seeing in the next few days.

For now, I will just say, adieu.
