My Thoughts on 2020~

UPDATE: BIDEN WINS!
Today is November 15th 2020 and even though Biden has surpassed 270 Electoral Votes, Georgia and North Carolina have still not been called.
Not long after I finished the original post, it was determined that Pennsylvania had secured his win!
I had celebrating to do, so that is why it is not until now, that I'm doing the update.
Though Biden won, via Electoral Votes and the Popular Vote, by more than 5 Million at this point, and set a new record by receiving over 75 Million votes- Donald Trump also set a record for getting most votes ever for a Republican at more than 70 Million votes.

So, I know, a lot of people are worried about the next four years.

Now, there's no way I can predict what will happen, despite Biden's plans, it will take more than that for changes; for the most part.
However, now that there's someone new, I do believe there will be change for many.
For most proposed changes, keep in mind, that just because one person gets a new benefit, or new opportunity, doesn't mean somebody will lose anything.
There will be some, who will have their taxes raised.  But, they'll still be millionaires and billionaires, after the fact.

I know there are some, who want things to be brought back to TRADITIONAL.  Just because something's "traditional", doesn't mean it's good.

It is 2020.  It's way past time, that each and every human gets the same opportunities, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other difference.  And again, just because someone gets an opportunity, doesn't mean someone that's had it for the last 250 years, is going to lose it.

The status quo, or the traditional way, suits some, the minority; but since the way things are does not suit all, the majority want changes.  But most of those changes will not impact those who've benefited from the status quo.  Even those who aspire to the traditional way, will still have the opportunity to achieve it- just so will many more.

So, again, just because someone gets something, doesn't mean that someone loses it.

So hang on, and let's see what 2021 brings.

To read the original, "My Thoughts on 2020"~

Today is Saturday, November 7th 2020.

The Election still has not claimed a winner for the president for the next 4 years.

Of course I have thoughts on the matter.  The reason I haven't written on Sadie's Gathering for a while is due to the fact that the format has changed and it's not as it was, so, I haven't written on here for a while.

This post will not be long, and will only cover one thought.

I was reading this MSNBC article, and it got me going; to the point that I'll try to put down one thought.

Especially this paragraph:

Democrats have spent the last decade and a half leaning heavily on the fact that they’re not racist bigots, but that may be off-putting to some of the voters they clearly need. In some analyses, the decision to focus on things like Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ rights distracted from any effective economic message.

People who are part of Black Lives Matter and LGBTQ are PEOPLE.  Thus, they impact economics.

Until a black parent doesn't have to raise their kids to not wear hoodies, or any other what should be unnecessary words of advice; or LGBTQ doesn't have to worry about sharing their spouse or lover is the same gender to each and every person they end up chatting with, and not have that person look at them like they're anything less than that person thought before; these people will not be able to contribute their potential to the economic reality of our country.

Just as a woman who finds that she's pregnant after a one night stand, or is raped, or is too poor to raise a child, or another child, or was so excited to be a mom, but at the 20 week ultrasound, discovered their child is not going live past birth/has a condition that the mom does not have the means, or desire to try to figure out how to afford and care for; and cannot get a procedure that predates religion done without traveling across state lines, or other red tape, that impacts the mom's health, job, thus negatively their economic reality;

THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO FIGHT FOR BLACKLIVES MATTER, LGBTQ, WOMEN'S HEALTH ISSUES, AND SO MANY OTHER CULTURAL ISSUES.

If the CULTURAL ISSUE impacts a HUMAN BEING; then it impacts OUR ECONOMIC REALITY.

Taking care of every American, regardless of color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, etc.;  making sure they can get healthcare, education, and opportunity to spend the majority of their lives, with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; is not Socialism.

If every single American loved their neighbor as they loved themselves, and acknowledged we all bleed red, regardless of our diversity; and that our diversity actually floods the country with new ideas for a better future, that to me would honor the notion of creating on Earth as it is in Heaven.

I think we can agree we know we can create Hell.

That's it for now.

Here's hoping for a brighter, and better 2021.
